Working Through Today’s Challenges

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis issued a stay-at-home-order for all except for those who worked for business that he deemed to be “essential services”. Residential and commercial real estate, including settlement services, were deemed to be “essential”. That said, while our staff might be deemed to be “essential”, we understand that you might be concerned about the people that our staff come into contact with, being that we haven’t stopped working for our clients during today’s challenges. As such, we wanted to assure you that just because you have a real estate deal closing that you will not need to sacrifice your safety. Old Palm Title has been handling remote closings long before the pandemic hit and will continue to do them long after this is over.

A “remote closing” is simply a real estate closing where all the parties sign remotely. Old Palm Title will email or FedEx (if you don’t have the ability to print documents) you the closing documents with detailed instructions on where to sign, where witnesses and notaries should sign, if applicable, and also provide you with a FedEx label to return your signed documents. In addition, with the State of Florida’s implementation of online notarizations starting January 2020, if you’re a US Citizen with a social security number and photo ID or passport and have a computer with a camera (while not recommended a tablet or smartphone could be used), you aren’t even required to touch a single piece of paper or even be in the State.

Don’t let COVID-19 keep you from realizing your dream of home ownership. Old Palm Title is prepared to make your closing convenient and safe.
